How can a family trip to Thailand inspire you to write a book for your son and every child of color? On a recent family trip with an infant son, 'Iolani Bullock, researched books to use to teach her young African American son about travel. She could not find a travel book with a diverse boy as the hero. She began writing the book in her hotel room in Thailand. During the writing journey she learned that her own grandfather was a member of the Tuskegee Airmen and this further inspired her work. 'Iolani Bullock has provided a solution for children of color with her debut novel, Lenox Takes Flight.
